O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you
as the day rises to meet the sun.

Praise to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee : let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Why do you stand so far off, O Lord : and hide yourself in time of trouble?
The wicked arrogantly persecute the poor : but they are trapped in the schemes they have devised.
The wicked boast of the heart’s desire : the covetous curse and revile the Lord.
The innocent are broken and humbled before them : the helpless fall before their power.
They say in their heart, “God has forgotten : he hides his face; he will never notice”
