This was one of those scriptures that spoke to me the instant that I read it. I have been laying awake in bed for the past hour, worrying and praying over all of the troubles I see. All around me I see suffering: financial struggles, marriages floundering, health concerns, some many people to love and so few to do it. I am overwhelmed, nearly overcome. Yet, there is refuge in my Lord. He will be my rock as the flood waters rage. He alone can grant me the strength to cling to Him, to be a light in the darkness. Praise you, Lord, for Your greatness. Thank you, Father, for your word of grace in my moment of need. Give me the strength to serve you well.

The notion that obeying God is more like a chord than individual notes really resonated with me. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Noticed this last night while our ladies Bible study was studying Colossians. Recurring themes...love must under gird all that we do, and you've gotta let go of some stuff to make room in your life and heart for some much better stuff.

I agree with Drew. Just having respect and love for others no matter their differences will ease a lot of heartache and pain around us. Christians can learn how to love unconditionally from those who don't believe and to always trust in your own faith. Sometimes you can't change other people, but you can always show them the love and compassion that God himself would have given, and then you truly live a life of God.

“Peace be with you.” This is truly what religion and a belief in Jesus and his teachings does for us - gives us peace of mind. While it sounds so cliche, it is so vital to everything we do to have a calm mind and be in harmony with oneself.

These final passages really underscore the chaos and mob mentality of the times...people who are caught up in a particular context and cannot remove themselves from it even when they realize it is not what they believe or want.
